Franz Schubert
A night song sung under a window, “Leise flehen meine Lieder”, over a piano that plucks like a guitar. Schubert wrote it in August 1828, three months before he died; after his death, his publisher put it in a collection and named it Schwanengesang, “Swan Song”.
